About Our Program for Three Year Old Children

In the 3 Year Old Program at Saugatuck Nursery School teachers enthusiastically welcome each child into the nurturing classroom environment. There they can enjoy small and large carefully designed group activities and become comfortable with the daily routine. Options from 9 am - 12 pm or 9am - 1:30 pm are available, three days per week (Mon/Wed/Fri) or five days per week (Mon - Fri).

A Typical Day in the 3’s Red Room

The day begins with greeting each child and helping him/her prepare for their day. A morning meeting consists of a greeting song, choosing helpers, and an introduction to the day’s activities.

Children then move into developmentally appropriate activities designed to foster growth in many learning domains as outlined in the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards. These include but are not limited to small and large group experiences, dramatic play, cooperative and individual creative projects, sensory activities and block building.

Snack time is another opportunity to teach manners and appreciation since each family takes turns contributing snacks.

Story time and music follows before outside play. All activities take advantage of teachable moments.
